i have the perfect place for you. they actually are a wheelchair website which you can buy wheelchairs from, rent them, and buy all sorts of cool accesories for wheelchairs.

they have a wide range of wheelchair for you to look at, from the basic right up to the latest ‘putemarly’ ones.
you said you only needed a basic wheelchair, so i’m sure that you’ll find one on this website which is perfect for your halloween costume.

i am pretty sure that you don’t have to be disabled to rent one out, as i have actaully ordered one from this website before with no hassel, so i’m sure you’ll be fine.

@markhorneyuk absolutely agree from australia!!! they hounded my mum when she said she couldnt afford it the asshole salesman asked her to list her bills! …it gets better, apparently its worth $8000 but he was doing her a favour for only $3000 next day i rang those fuckers and a slimy salesman tried to lead me down his line of pre-determined questions…i asked where he was so i can kick him in his fuckin balls. i have to work hard now to make sure this fuckin fraud doesnt go ahead

If you mean a hospital type bed, you can call your local senior center, as they have medical supplies that they loan to senior citizens. They will probably refuse the mattress, but they may take the bed.
Otherwise, try a homeless shelter, same caveat.

LOL Oh dear, don’t do ANY of the things you just mentioned except treat them as though they’re your normal friends. They didn’t choose to be in a wheelchair, so why should you choose to treat them any different. Don’t offer to get anything out of reach unless they ask for assistance. If they decide to tell you why they’re in a wheelchair, be interested and empathetic. Also, keep in mind that Empathy and Sympathy are two different things and are easily confused, so try not to mix them up. You don’t want to crush what dignity they have left. Keep in mind that they’re people, like everyone else, except they just don’t have legs to get around.
Oh and one more thing, Judging by the fact that you even asked this question, you seem like a very shallow minded person.
